Switching from myHomework to Helium

myHomework doesn’t offer a one-click data export, but you can still get your schedule out — as a calendar feed, or by hand — before bringing it into Helium, a free, open-source student planner for iOS, Android, and the web.

Export Your myHomework Data

myHomework can publish your schedule as a calendar feed.

  1. In myHomework, open Calendar Settings and enable external calendar access.
  2. Copy the calendar (.ics) URL it gives you.
  3. Add that URL to a calendar you control — in Google Calendar, use Add calendar → From URL; in Apple Calendar, use File → New Calendar Subscription.
  4. Export that calendar to an .ics file from Google or Apple Calendar and save it somewhere you’ll find it again — you’ll hand this file to the AI assistant in the next step.

If your account doesn’t have this option, jot down (or screenshot) your classes, their meeting times, and your upcoming assignments instead — you’ll enter those directly in the next step.

A calendar export carries your class schedule and assignment due dates. Grades and category weights don’t travel in a calendar file — set those up in Helium as the term goes on.

Bring Your Schedule into Helium

The fastest way to get an existing schedule into Helium is the AI-assisted import. You hand your source material to any modern AI assistant, it produces a Helium import file, and you upload that file to Helium.

  1. Follow the AI-assisted syllabus import steps in Where to Start with Helium.
  2. When the assistant asks for your source material, attach the .ics file you saved above — or simply paste your list of classes, meeting times, and assignments.
  3. Answer its follow-up questions, download the import file it produces, and import it under Settings → Import / Export.
